I've just started working with a company that produces international artists and compilation CDs. The kind of CDs that they sell at Borders and most other American stores. We recorded a song yesterday. I wrote the lyrics in Farsi with my mom and the song is written by the producer of the album. It's a fun and dancy song, more geared towards an international audience and not so much towards just Iranians or Americans.I'm also recording a couple of songs written by my good friend, Kambiz Mirzaei when I'm in Toronto next month. The songs will go on his compilation cd. They are more mellow and darker and more towards my own taste.I am always at odds within myself about the types of music that I like to work on. I want to try a lot of different styles (never 6/8 though!) and I want to experiment and I'm happy that as I'm working with different song-writers I get to do just that. I think as long as a song sits well with you, that's what matters. I've learned that as soon as something about a song doesn't feel good to you, then just scratch it right there and put it away. If you end up singing it, you'll always be unhappy about it. I trust my own judgement better than the people I work with :)
