Ba Salam En Mosahebeye Shahrzad Sepanlou Ba Majaleye Persian Mirror mibashad ke baraye Sale 2005 mibashad:

the music of shahrzad sepanlou
Born in Tehran, Shahrzad Sepanlou was a fan of music from an early age. Through her artist parents, Shahrzad was able to cultivate her love and has become today one of the most favorite of contemporary artists in the industry. With 2 albums under her belt, Shahrzad is getting ready for a third and fans all over are ecstactic.
We had a chance to find this singing beauty to find out what lies beneath this talented artist.
PersianMirror: Tell us about yourself.
Shahrzad Sepanlou: I grew up in the Amir Abaad area until I was 12. Then we moved to Europe for a year and afterwards came to America. I grew up in a household where literature and music were very important parts of our daily lives. My parents are both writers and growing up around them and their friends was a big influence on my appreciation of arts and music.
I live in Studio City, California, near Los Angeles. I guess finding a good deal in this crazy California real estate market influenced my decision to live here for now! I like living in Los Angeles but it’s sometimes too hectic and fast for me. I wish I had a house in the countryside where I could just get away sometimes.
I am a pessimist and an optimist. Sometimes I think about the uselessness of life and at other times, I think that life has so many beautiful offerings that I get overwhelmed with joy!
"I am a pessimist and an optimist." Shahrzad
PM: Can you tell us a little about how you got started in music??
SS: A lot of people are already aware that I started my professional singing career with the original Silhouette. Then I decided to do a solo album once I quit the band. I always loved singing since I was a kid and I got a chance to do it professionally in the Persian music industry.
PM: Who were some of the biggest influence of your interpretation of the music?
SS: Definitely Googoosh. I really loved and still love her charm, sincerity and passion in her vocal and on-camera performances. Everything thing she does and every note she sings engages you unlike any other artist I know.
PM: What would a big dream-come-true for you in this field?
SS: To have a concert in Iran where all the fans who’ve sent me emails from far away in the past few years can all be there.
PM: What are some of your pet peeves?
SS: People who can’t see anything besides their immediate surroundings (shallow people). Also, an entirely different type of pet peeve is noise from the street. When I’m at home, I want it to be quiet and relaxing but living in a condo in a busy street has made me very irritable with constant street noises such as the trash truck, people honking their horn, helicopters flying over the freeway, etc.
PM: What are some of the upcoming projects or events that you have planned in the near future?
SS: I want to work on my third album and I already have a couple of song-writers and lyricists in mind. I may produce this album myself so I can be completely free on what types of songs to sing. I am also in talks with a great artist to participate in his concerts in the upcoming months. We’ll see.
PM: Desert Island. Three things. What will you take?
SS: I assume you mean objects vs people. So the first would be chocolate and lots of it. Marc Lavoine’s CD. Portable computer with internet access.
